The staff is polite and you can joke around with them. We came in super early and they set us right up.
The campground was Ok. Nice people manage it, but I found it to be a little dirty. The woman's bathroom was really quite filthy. Whenever I camp, I don't always stay at a campground with a shower. The hot shower felt heavenly, but I was very grateful I brought my shower shoes.
I see some of the complaints but I also see positives about this place, and some of the complaints don't make sense.
We're in site #1. We have to share our power post with site #2. We needed to borrow an extension, 30 amp, to reach. The staff was happy to provide it but it seems to hassle site #2 more than us, it goes through their yard.
My husband and I stay at this KOA often and we have always been pleased with our accommodations. We stay in the rustic cabins and have always had a good experience until our stay this past weekend. When we arrived we were assigned cabin #5. It is in the back and the location is nice. However, there was a tarp covering the roof, the floor had not been swept, there was no light bulb on the front porch, the light bulb on the inside was yellow (which produced very little light) and there was no trash bag for the dirty trash can in the cabin. There were several times I thought about informing the staff about the concerns, but I also was trying to be understanding that the campground is under new management and there are bound to be issues that need to be worked out. So, I opted to overlook these issues and hope for improvement next time we camped there. That was until I received a phone call from the campground this morning regarding "missing items" from the cabin! Needless to say I was not happy to receive the phone call, especially since I gave them the benefit of the doubt this weekend. Once I listed all of the concerns I had and informed the staff that the light bulb had been missing, she apologized for wasting my time. To be safe I would report any issue, so it doesn't came back on you.
Yes when it rains I can see mud and it's sticky gooey mud. The fire ring is quite large 2.5 feet, typical. The store closes at 2000 hrs, (9pm) and yes so does the laundry mat, there is a sign in the laundry mat which states do not start laundry after 8pm (2000 hrs).
Would not recommend this KOA. Bathrooms were disgusting as if they hadn't been cleaned in weeks. Black mold in the showers, hair clogged drains, bugs splattered on the walls and sinks. No hot water in one of the bathrooms, then no water for the campground which was understandable since they where putting in a new water heater. The dump station light had been blinking red for days, while there the pump truck came but when we left the next day, the dump station was still not usable. They had 2 big commercial dryers, staff was using one to dry 2 small rugs and then put an out of order sign on it when it was done even though it was just working. Of the other 3 dryers, 1 was not working. Unkempt and understaffed - need an owner onsite
Over all its ok, $36 Per Day for full hook ups, not bad.
Went there on vacation my best friend has had her family and her live there forever and was very very cool to have somebody know their way around there so I learned a lot and enjoyed it very much so as well as Mackinac Island I would recommend it for anybody! Especially that bridge wow!.
