Cleaning staff not very good:
Then when this couple was getting dressed in the morning a member of the cleaning staff walked into their room unannounced. It appears that when they were given a different room the computer system wasn't updated. Luckily the young women, who was nude, had just entered the bathroom and closed the door. The young man was horrified. And rightly so.
Breakfast buffet was decent. Waffles, fruit, bagels, etc.
Cons:
The manager of the hotel that I spoke with was very polite. The other women I spoke with at the front desk didn't like that I was upset. Instead of acknowledging an understanding of why I was upset tried to explain why all this happened. I ended up hanging up on her.
Then the young man wanted to buy a beverage and put it on his credit card. The hotel, then, put the $4.00 charge on their ATM credit card but also put a hold on their ATM card for the $111 charge for the room that had already been paid for.. That left them only $1.00 to get over the bridge, buy gas, and get back to Traverse City where they were visiting me.

Great view! Clean and friendly. Nice price too. Breakfast was good. Of the 3 hotels used on this trip, this was by far the best.
Did I mention the view!?
Other than that it was a great stay. I'm really thankful I could bring my dogs. Got some great pictures of sunrises.
A friend and myself enjoyed the stay here while on vacation in the u.p, the staff were friendly and efficient and the room was clean. Yes there are a lot of bugs since you are literally right on the lake shore what do you expect, all the hotels on the lake shores have this issue. Went to sleep after a beautiful sunset over the lake and woke up in time to enjoy the sunrise in the hotels nice hot tub and pool. This hotel is conveniently located right down the street from stores and most importantly the shuttle to mackinaw island. Do yourself a favor and stay a night here if you are in St ignace, it's a nice place to rest for the evening, especially after a long drive from lower Michigan. Thanks Baymont Inn.
I would NEVER go back to this hotel. They need to have classes in handling upset customers. I had a good reason to be upset. This was an anniversary present to this couple and it turned out to be a terrible experience.
Although the staff tried to make it right there were a series of problems. I made this reservation for a young couple celebrating their anniversary. I called with my credit card and sent in a signature. They got there, got ready for a wedding, and when they came back the room was covered in bugs. The staff explained that these bugs are all over the place in that area of Michigan and there isn't anything they can do. They moved the couple from a room with a king bed and large shower to a room with what they say has queen beds and a tub with a shower. We question the size of the beds but there is no way to verify that. Breakfast wasn't all that bad but it wasn't what was expected.

We stopped for an emergency restroom break. I was pleasantly surprised at how nice and welcoming the lobby area was. Very clean restrooms, and a fabulous view of Lake Huron. Would definitely stay there if passing through St. Ignace again.
Was able to be upgraded to a suite upon arrival.
Mini fridge and microwave are great.
Thanks to all the reviews that mention the little bugs I brought my own environmentally friendly bug spray- killed on contact. So I had hundreds of dead bugs stuck to the windows. I realized from watching the cleaning staff clean other rooms that they leave the doors open when they clean. Not smart when all the doors go directly outside and let all the bugs in!! So the first day I put up the do not disturb sign. They wanted me to reuse my bath towels anyway (save on water by not having to wash them-- good for environment) so I really had no need for my room to be cleaned. Got back that night- no new bugs. Yay!! The next day I forgot the do not disturb sign. Oh no. But hey, fresh sheets sounded good and I was getting low on toilet paper. When I got back that night: lots and lots more bugs. Ug. Sheets not changed. Toilet paper not stocked. But more towels even though I did what they asked and hung my towel to dry so it could be reused. They also emptied one trash can but not the other. And those dead bugs stuck to the window.....still there. Also, please give attention to the shower surround. There is a separation between the tub and the surround and lots of mold up in there. Scrub brush and bleach needed. I think cleaning staff needs to be retrained or hire more help.
